Frequently Asked Questions
What's the two-bucket wash method and why does it matter for hand washing?
The two-bucket method keeps one bucket for clean soap solution and another for rinsing your wash mitt. Grit guards trap dirt at the bottom so contaminants don't transfer back to paint. This prevents swirl marks that occur when dirt particles drag across clear coat during washing. When should you get paint correction before ceramic coating?
Ceramic coatings lock in whatever surface condition exists, so swirls and marring become permanent under the coating layer. Paint correction removes those defects first using dual-action polishers and cutting compounds. Clear coat thickness is measured with a micron gauge before polishing to ensure safe material removal. What does 9H hardness mean for ceramic coating protection?
The 9H rating measures coating hardness on the pencil hardness scale, where 9H represents high scratch resistance once cured. Silicon dioxide technology creates a sacrificial barrier that absorbs minor abrasions instead of your clear coat. The coating must cure fully before the hardness rating applies. How does iron decontamination work during exterior detailing?
Iron particles from brake dust embed into paint and create rust spots that washing alone won't remove. Iron decontamination uses a chemical reaction that dissolves bonded ferrous particles, turning purple as it works. This step happens after washing and before any polishing or protection application. What's the difference between hot-water extraction and regular vacuuming for car interiors?
Hot-water extraction injects heated cleaning solution deep into carpet and upholstery fibers, then extracts it along with embedded dirt, oils, and stains. Regular vacuuming only removes surface debris. Extraction reaches contaminants that cause odors and discoloration below the surface.Does ceramic coating work on leather and fabric, or just paint?
Interior ceramic coatings bond to leather, fabric, vinyl, and plastic surfaces using modified SiO2 formulas designed for porous materials. Leather coating adds UV protection and stain resistance while maintaining natural texture. Fabric shield creates hydrophobic protection that repels spills without changing the material's appearance or breathability. Why do you measure clear coat thickness before paint correction?
Machine polishing removes microns of clear coat to level the surface and eliminate defects. Measuring thickness with a micron gauge prevents polishing through the clear coat into base paint. Most vehicles have 40-100 microns of clear, and correction work must leave adequate protection remaining. How does mobile detailing work if you need water and power?
Mobile detailing units arrive fully equipped with onboard water tanks, generators, and all professional equipment needed for exterior washing, paint correction, ceramic application, and interior restoration. The service brings the complete shop experience to your home or workplace without requiring access to your water supply or electrical outlets. What causes swirl marks and how does paint correction remove them?
Swirl marks form when dirt drags across paint during improper washing or when automated car washes use stiff brushes. Paint correction uses progressively finer polishing compounds with dual-action or rotary buffers to level the clear coat surface. This removes the scratched layer and reveals undamaged clear coat beneath. Can headlight restoration fix yellowed or foggy plastic lenses?
Oxidized headlight restoration involves sanding away the damaged outer polycarbonate layer using progressive grit stages, then polishing to restore clarity. A UV-resistant clear coat is applied afterward to prevent re-oxidation. This process removes years of yellowing and hazing caused by sun exposure and improves nighttime visibility. What is the difference between Ceramic Wax and a Ceramic Coating?
Shine, durability and longevity. CeramicWax is meant to provide a hydrophobic layer to protect the vehicles clear coat from the elements and UV Rays with reduced chance of hard water spots, being easier to clean for approximately 5-9 months (depending on vehicle storing conditions). Ceramic coating offers the same benefits, only better, more intense, durable, scratch resistant and last 2-10 years when installed and maintained correctly.
How long is it going to take?
Typically takes 5-9 hours for small cars up to mid-size trucks & SUV's, 10 hours plus for large vehicles or multiples. Products and labor come with a warranty (separately) which can't be honored if every step isn't followed correctly.
Are you gong to be able to get the scratches and swirls out of the paint?
It depends! The general rule of thumb for this industry says, if you can scratch it with your fingernail and feel it, it's probably not going to visibly come out but, can be toned down so it's not quite too harsh and rigid.
How should I maintain the finish and sealan tin between cleans?
Loof for a PH-Neuetral car wash, they are safe on all finishes and coating without being too harsh.
Why does my Ceramic coating still get hard water spots?
Ceramics aren't a one and done, everything needs to be maintained in order to stay in top condition. Sometimes a descale wash or even a light polish is needed to bring back the maximum hydrophobic slickness, shine and easy routine maintenance.
How often should I get a maintenance wash?
For maintenance packages on the ceramic wax, typically every 4-6 months and for the ceramic, every 90 days it needs to be touched up with a brand specific sealant.
